Catalog description

This course provides students with an opportunity to explore the relationship between communication theory and sports generally in three areas: (1) sports and culture, (2) sports organizations and stakeholders, and (3) interpersonal relationships among athletes, coaches, and fans. Students will read and discuss both historical and contemporary sports issues while discussing the implications of these case studies to develop our understanding of both communication as a discipline and sports as an industry with significant cultural importance.
