Catalog description
This Career Center course is an introduction into automotive electrical and climate control systems. Students will learn how the theories and laws electricity relate to automotive operation. An emphasis will be placed on the understanding and operation of various testing equipment, including digital volt ohm meters, scan tools, and oscilloscopes. Topics covered will include batteries, charging and starting systems, lighting, wipers, horns, turn signals, power accessories, instrumentation, and the principles of air conditioning. Students will learn to test, diagnose, and repair electrical systems and the components. Students will be required to demonstrate proficiency by completing all ASE MLR tasks for Electrical, HVAC, and related supplemental tasks in the lab.
