Catalog description

Through extensive hands-on exercises, students will learn the proper and accurate use of all types of precision measuring tools and equipment. In addition, the safe and proper use of hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, rigging and other maintenance equipment is covered. Finally, students will get extensive practice in the disassembly of industrial machinery and the procedures followed for accurate diagnosis of worn parts and components. Students are taught the fundamentals of shop safety, the use of metal hand tool, bench and layout work and the skills needed for the preparation for metal removal processes. Machine shop measurements using precision measuring devices are stressed in the course.
