Arizona State University Digital Immersion · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The Earth and solar system have a long and interesting history, spanning nearly five billion years. Earth and other objects in the solar system have evolved over time, punctuated by a series of events, such as mountain building, volcanic eruptions, impacts and extinctions. As scientists and engineers, we want to understand what events have occurred in our world and which aspects directly affect us or are most interesting. Understanding past events helps us comprehend what has happened and begin to predict future events. With the Earth, examines past events and current natural processes to understand how this past and these processes affect humans. Accordingly, examines the history of the Earth and solar system in the context of the processes, materials and features that can be observed and inferred.
