Catalog description

Equips students with tools to critically think about data, claims and evidence in today's information-rich media environment. Examines how data are collected, presented and sometimes misused; explores the social and technological forces that amplify misleading claims; and practices identifying common reasoning and statistical pitfalls. Through case studies, visualization critiques and other exercises, students develop the analytical and communication skills to responsibly evaluate and counter information (and misinformation) in professional, academic and public media contexts.
