Examines how media influences individuals and society, exploring social dimensions, audience behaviors, message design and the role of media in shaping public opinion. Students engage with classic and contemporary theories of media effects while analyzing real-world examples of selective exposure, persuasion, agenda-setting and parasocial relationships. Equips students to critically assess media's impact and communicate insights about its effects on audiences and democratic life.
