Catalog description

Builds the foundation for creating and understanding media in all its forms. Explores how fact-based stories are produced across platforms--from digital news and podcasts to press releases, streaming and social media--while learning to identify sources, spot bias and recognize misinformation. Through hands-on practice with headlines, ledes, press releases, data visualization and more, students gain confidence in both consuming and producing information-driven storytelling. By the end of the course, students understand not only how media messages are made, but also how to navigate and contribute responsibly to today's diverse and global media landscape.
