Advanced, mechanistic course that examines how chemical and structural principles of gene and protein function underpin modern biotechnology. Through in-depth study of DNA replication, gene expression, genome dynamics and regulatory mechanisms, students develop an understanding of how foundational molecular mechanisms underpinning biotechnology tools enable biotechnology research and future development. Emphasizes critical evaluation of primary literature and the application of biotechnology tools to generate new biological insights.
