Catalog description

Teaches basic skills required to compose, shoot and prepare still photos for publication. Hands-on, with students shooting a range of assignments from news events to environmental portraits, and producing a portfolio of their work. Students may share a school-supplied Canon camera or provide their own. The camera should be a digital SLR camera body with at least a kit zoom lens, and the camera body must have a manual setting and have the ability to turn off any built-in camera flash. Students need digital media cards of at least 2 GB and an external digital card reader. Students may not use point-and-shoot cameras or cameras with Flash (built-in or external) for this class.
