Catalog description

Seminar course in research, with a particular emphasis on quantitative and empirical methods. Students develop an appreciation for and understanding of different conceptual frameworks of design, environment and the arts knowledge; develop a knowledge of a broad range of alternative approaches to interdisciplinary research with emphasis on quantitative methods; become aware of different research methods, tools and approaches; craft a research question and transform it to a plan of research; understand the components of the research process and research proposal; develop improved skill in scholarly writing; become aware of ethical and other critical issues related to research; critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of various research studies and techniques; analyze data using several statistical methods, using statistics software.
