Attention to the concept of green buildings and a sustainable built environment has been rapidly growing due to environmental issues such as energy consumption, gas emission and exhaustion of natural resources. All these issues drive architects, designers and engineers to reassess conventional architectural design and construction processes. This course explores topics in sustainable design related to interior architecture, while exploring the concept of sustainability and its role in the interior design process. Presents techniques and skills for designing the built environment, including a focus on renewable energy and design solutions that promote building occupants' health, comfort, safety and well being. Also discusses building design rating systems such as LEED and WELL Building Standards.
