Catalog description

Technical overview (introduction) to Unix-style operating systems such as Linux. Covers a broad range of features of the operating system from core system technologies such as the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (FHS), to using the shell and common Unix/Linux utilities to accomplish day-to-day computing tasks. Includes output redirection, file manipulation, basic system and environment configuration, and system monitoring. Assumes no prior experience with the Unix operating system.
