Introduction to Behavioral Interventions

Catalog description

Provides a foundational understanding of behavioral health interventions for primary care settings for those students intending to work in administrative, management or allied health positions. Provides a theoretical basis for various psychological schools of thought, as well as an overview of the empirical evidence for those approaches. Reviews models of therapy including: psychodynamic, brief strategic, cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused. Also reviews two intervention strategies typically used in integrated settings: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Explores the ways that these approaches serve as the theoretical framework of the Biodyne model.
