Catalog description

Presents the concepts, principles, methodologies and processes essential to organizational planning and decision making in all leadership settings. Develops an understanding and initial ability to utilize planning principles and processes, including in the development of plans and policy. Exposes students to the differences between planning and decision making as well as the essential elements of effective implementation of plans, plan assessments and plan adjustments in order to achieve desired outcomes and objectives. Students discuss and analyze the importance of framing the problem; the concept of mission analysis; the concept of operational design and design visualization; the method to develop courses of action; the techniques to analyze and assess the aspects of a Course of Action (COA) and then compare proposed COAs to achieve intended outcomes; and the importance of the dimension of time in planning and decision making. Specifically designed for students of all experience levels to guide them through a step-by-step incremental learning process.
