Fundamental Skills in Death Investigations

Catalog description
Provides hands-on experience in crime scene analysis, photography and essential laboratory and field techniques for careers related to death investigations. Provides an opportunity to assess an indoor mock crime scene, gaining experience in documentation and lab techniques related to fingerprint processing, bloodstain pattern analysis, photography and mapping, and conducting presumptive tests. Additionally, students have the opportunity to assess an outdoor mock crime scene, gaining experience in survey, advanced scene mapping and recovery. Students learn to document and recover scattered and buried remains and gain experience in osteological and taphonomic techniques used in forensic anthropology, archaeology and death investigations.
