Catalog description
Examines the place of an English degree within a larger humanities context and explores the kinds of work students can do in the world with their education. Explores different strategies for teaching college-level literary and cultural analysis of texts. Discusses different types and modes of teaching. Students gain practical experience by designing syllabi and assessments, leading a teaching session on their specialism, and offering peer critique and discussion of others' sessions and/or lectures. Students create a personalized statement of teaching philosophy suitable for job applications.
