Rechargeable Battery Technologies for Emerging Electrification Applications
Arizona State University Digital Immersion · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Covers the foundational and emerging aspects of rechargeable battery technologies--including lithium-ion batteries--across a range of electrified systems. While automotive electrification (e.g., electric vehicles) remains a core focus, the course also explores battery technologies for advanced applications such as unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), wearable and flexible electronics and specialized power systems for space or defense missions. Examines battery operating principles, cell and pack design, manufacturing techniques, safety protocols and battery management systems with an emphasis on performance metrics and real-world constraints.
