Catalog description

The first of two required literacy courses, examines current and classic research on oral language and early literacy development and effective strategies for teaching language and literacy from birth through grade 3. Focuses on the foundations of literacy development, including the unique learning needs of all students, with an emphasis on systematic phonics and examining the sequence of learning to read with an emphasis on the science of reading methods.
