Catalog description

Provides advanced study in digital forensics with emphasis on applied investigation methods and professional practice. Examines forensic procedures, anti-forensics techniques, advanced file system analysis and recovery, and operating system artifacts across both Windows and macOS. Also covers memory forensics, network traffic analysis, malware investigation through static and dynamic techniques, and application forensics focusing on documents and messaging platforms. Learning is reinforced through weekly in-class exercises, structured labs, quizzes and a comprehensive final report that simulates a professional forensic case analysis. Students gain experience collecting, preserving and analyzing digital evidence, reconstructing timelines and producing reports suitable for investigative and legal contexts. Designed to prepare students for advanced roles in digital forensics and incident response by integrating technical depth with practical application.
