Catalog description
Critical investigation, especially in relation to gender, sexuality, race and class, of the history and historiography of vernacular and concert dance forms informing dance in America today. Focuses on Afro-Latin social dancing, ballroom, jazz, hip hop, ballet and modern/postmodern dance forms. Students learn about various ways of conducting research into dance history, including interviewing, researching using primary resources and performing scholarship.
