Hip Hop Ensemble

Catalog description

Comprises dancers and musicians exploring the connections between hip hop musical practices and hip hop movement forms in a live improvisatory setting. Places special emphasis on hybridization, or the blending of musical traits and physical movement from two or more genres. Throughout the semester, builds cooperative practices with one another and experiments in a cross-disciplinary manner. Catalyzes and fosters ability to imagine innovative musical and movement practices within the hip hop aesthetic. Course serves as an 'experiment lab' for music and dance students.
