Catalog description

The African Diaspora refers to the many communities of people of African descent dispersed throughout the world as a result of historic movements. This course explores various dances from the Diaspora. Students learn to execute polyrhythmic patterns and practice multiple types of call and response cues performed both verbally and physically. Different exercises focus on body isolation, the use of weight, and traveling in space.
