Catalog description

Students learn about the role of public relations in science, the types of organizations that communicate science, and the opportunities and challenges they face. Combines theory and practice so students learn not only how to effectively communicate science but also why certain strategies and tactics are appropriate for different situations and audiences. Covers the theoretical foundations of science communication and public relations and how to apply theory and research to the public relations planning process. Next, applies these concepts to specific public relations tactics. Students learn about--and get hands-on experience with--a range of topics including working with media, infographic design, creating science content for social media, and storytelling.
