Studies the development of natural philosophy and theories of scientific knowledge from Plato and Aristotle to Newton and Darwin. Gives particular attention to the period known as the Scientific Revolution, inspired most famously by Francis Bacon. Explores the relationships among natural philosophy, epistemology, moral philosophy and political philosophy.
