Catalog description

Explores the contradiction between American Founding principles and the historic practice of racial injustice in the U.S. Focuses on historical primary sources dating from the Revolutionary Era through the Civil Rights Era. Through its emphasis on conversation regarding these sources, aims to foster students' ability to engage in civil dialogue with respect to controversial issues. Also aims to provide the foundation in knowledge, dispositions and skills necessary to contribute as citizen-leaders on issues of racial justice in the U.S.
