Catalog description
Explores the use of play, expressive arts and behavioral methods in counseling children and adolescent clients. Major areas of focus include theoretical orientations to play therapy/expressive arts/behavioral interventions, foundations, practice and assessment/treatment planning for each modality. Integrates play media such as therapeutic play materials, guided imagery, puppets and dolls, art, creative dramatics, music and movement, games and sand play. Demonstrations and experiential activities are a primary method of teaching and learning the theory and practice of counseling children and adolescents. Includes both directive and nondirective experiences.
