Catalog description

Examines fifteen of the thirty air traffic basics topics required by the Federal Aviation Administration for the enhanced CTI program. Topics include (but not limited to): the pilot's environment, VFR charts/publications, enroute IFR Charts, SIDs and STARs, approaches-IAPs, fundamentals of weather and aviation weather services, hazardous weather, current weather (METAR/SPECI), forecasts and advisories, PIREPs, introduction to emergencies, search and rescue, basic communication, clearances, and stripmarking (terminal). With previous coursework, prepares students to take the FAA written test. Uses the FAA Academy curriculum and is available to students on Canvas.
