Through practical shooting assignments, readings, lectures and critiques, students learn about expressing ideas about land and place through photography. This course both celebrates, challenges and subverts the tradition of landscape photography. Pays particular attention to the ways in which photography reinforces notions of land and can be a way to address issues of pollution, sustainability and climate change, ownership, borders and the relationship between the social, the political and the physical landscape.
