Sound Design for Moving Images

Studio-based course that explores the vital role of sound in the creation of animation and other media. Develops a comprehensive understanding of sound design and how it can be used to support storytelling. Technical topics covered include sound editing, sound mixing, foley, sound effects, audio restoration, music composing, voice cloning and AI audio-related topics. Students become proficient in using industry-standard software for audio post-production. Through a combination of hands-on projects and in-class discussions, explores conceptual and creative topics such as designing a sound experience and understanding how sound integrates with animation and other time-based media. By the end of the course, students have a deeper understanding of the art and science of sound design are able to create compelling and immersive soundscapes that enhance the overall impact of their projects.
