Examines the importance of studio lighting as it applies to photography. Lighting is the core concept of the photographic medium; this concept is explored through the lighting studio and digital capture. Helps students gain a heightened sensitivity toward light and the narrative qualities of light. Emphasizes the technical concepts of the studio including equipment, setup, control, diffused and fill lighting. Students gain technical expertise in the use of digital photographic equipment, software and printers to produce digital photographic images. Through discussions and readings, introduces students to different ways of conceptualizing light in the photographic studio.
