Catalog description
An introduction to photography, with emphasis on investigating personal, social, cultural and aesthetic concerns with the camera. Class lectures address contemporary and historical photographers and various philosophical and technical approaches to the medium. Lab sections emphasize the creative process through camera work and darkroom procedures using 35 mm film, as well as digital capturing from cell phone camera to DSLR. Students leave this class with a better understanding of the role of photographs in culture and in their own lives.
