Using hands-on experiences, teaches key concepts underlying the control and function of animal behaviors and contemporary methods for measuring, analyzing, and reporting animal behaviors. Combines introductory classroom lectures on concepts and methods with direct application in observations and experiments on animal behavior in the field and the lab. Topics include communication, mating behavior and systems, parental care, kin selection, cooperation and competition, migration and dispersal, foraging, and anti-predator strategies.
