Catalog description

Introduces the craft of game design through rapid non-digital prototyping. Students build a portfolio of small paper-based games using simple materials (cards, dice, tokens, index cards, post-its, boards), and develop and document a semester-long final project game that begins with a single mechanic and evolves through iterative refinement. The course follows a playcentric design methodology: setting player-experience goals (PEGs), quickly prototyping, testing with peers and revising based on evidence.
