Catalog description

Examines issues, policies and practices in Indigenous language education and revitalization, with particular attention to Native Hawaiian, American Indian and other Indigenous and language-minority communities. Using sociolinguistic and language reclamation perspectives, the course centers the role of language and culture in education and Indigenous educational sovereignty while examining historical and contemporary models of language maintenance, revitalization and renewal.
