Indigenous Thinkers and Intellectual Traditions

Catalog description

This graduate seminar engages Indigenous intellectual traditions as dynamic and living lineages, foregrounding the work of contemporary Indigenous scholars, leaders and knowledge keepers. Students critically examine how these thinkers draw on oral, political and cultural traditions to inform and advance the field of American Indian and Indigenous studies. Emphasizes close reading, comparative analysis and discussion of how Indigenous thinkers and intellectual traditions contribute to interdisciplinary conversations on sovereignty, culture, knowledge and decolonial futures.
