Catalog description

Examines the relationship between language, culture and identity in American Indian communities. Focuses on the diversity of Indigenous languages, oral traditions and cultural practices, as well as their transformation in contemporary contexts. Highlights efforts in language revitalization, cultural preservation and the use of creative expression as tools of resistance and renewal. Students gain an interdisciplinary understanding of how language and culture sustain Indigenous lifeways in the modern era.
