Introduces the field of American Indian Studies through an exploration of Indigenous histories, cultures and contemporary experiences in the United States. Emphasizes Indigenous perspectives on sovereignty, identity, governance, education and cultural expression. Students examine the impacts of colonization alongside ongoing movements for self-determination, resistance and cultural revitalization. Open to all students; requires no prior background.
