Catalog description

This hybrid course has been designed to foster a grounded and well-informed understanding of the individual and inter-generational effects of domestic violence in children, intimate relationships, and the elderly and to equip mental health professionals to recognize, assess, and effectively intervene in these cases. The course will begin by presenting a global perspective on violence and oppression and interventions being utilized around the world. It will then narrow the focus to issues specific to intimate partner, elder, and child abuse within the United States. There will be 2 full day class meetings, several asynchronous learning modules due throughout the quarter, and a final paper.
