Catalog description

This course builds on basic physical assessment concepts to include focused and comprehensive health assessments for individuals across the lifespan. Integrating concepts of social determinants of health, genetics/genomics, culture, and lifestyles in the identification of risk factors, this course focuses on therapeutic communication in a caring framework with individuals and families to assemble a health assessment database, including family, psychosocial, diagnostic, and physical findings. Emphasis is placed on clinical reasoning by critically analyzing the data to determine differential diagnoses, establishing an accurate assessment of the health status, and accurately documenting the encounter.
