Transforming Health Equity through Evidence-Based Practice & Informatics

Catalog description

This course introduces graduate nursing students to the foundational principles of evidence-based practice (EBP), informatics, and knowledge translation as essential tools for advancing health equity and improving healthcare outcomes. Students will explore how evidence is generated, accessed, and applied in clinical and organizational settings, with attention to social determinants of health, structural inequities, and diverse population needs. Emphasis is placed on understanding core concepts, models, and tools used in EBP and informatics, including basic approaches to data use, clinical decision support, and quality improvement. Through guided learning activities and applied examples, students will develop the ability to locate, appraise, and apply evidence to support equitable nursing practice, while recognizing the ethical, cultural, and systems-level factors that influence care delivery.
