Lifecycle Nutrition

Catalog description
This course explores nutritional needs and challenges across the human lifespan, from conception to older adulthood. Students will examine the physiological and metabolic changes that occur at each stage of life, as well as the dietary strategies and interventions that support health and well-being. The course will cover topics such as prenatal nutrition, infant and child nutrition, adolescent development, nutrition for adults, and the nutritional needs of older adults. Special emphasis will be placed on the prevention and management of diet-related chronic diseases, the role of nutrition in growth and development, and the impact of socio-cultural factors on dietary practices. Through evidence-based research and case studies, students will learn to design nutrition interventions tailored to diverse populations, taking into account individual, cultural, and environmental factors.
