Catalog description

Engaging Difference explores the various ways in which our understanding and construction of “self” and “Other” result in philosophical and concrete dimensions of difference with real social implications… Our goal is to engage in a critical inquiry into the discourse on difference and the dynamics of diversity as they play out across a range of issues including, xenophobia, race and racism, gender relations and sexuality, multiculturalism, colonialism, and decolonization. Critical race theory, anti-racism, and intersectionality will be key components in the analytical lens of this course.
