Rightful Presence in the Experiential Classroom
Antioch University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course examines how educators can design experiential classrooms in which all students experience rightful presence-a strong sense of belonging, inherent value and shared power. Students explore evidence-based practices that support inclusive learning across developmental stages, identities, and ability levels. Emphasis is placed on problem-based learning, STEAM, social-emotional learning, and the creation of “safe-enough-to-be-brave” learning communities. Educators apply high-leverage instructional strategies to their own settings, with attention to supporting marginalized learners and fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and meaningful skill development.
