Catalog description

This course is designed to help master level students/counselor-trainees learn the fundamental concepts of 1 the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of psychotherapy and to provide students opportunities to practice utilizing IFS framework and techniques when working with clients in counseling. This class will also help students apply the IFS model to themselves as counselors to explore their own parts that get triggered by clients so that they can become Self-led counselors when working with clients. This course will also introduce how the IFS model can be used in working with different types of client populations, how the IFS model can be integrated with other counseling modalities, as well as how the IFS model can be applied for social justice, antiracism, and decolonization work. This is an intro to IFS course for graduate level counselor-trainees.
