This course explores relational group art therapy, integrating theory and engagement practices that consider environmental, ecological, and systemic influences on individuals, groups, families, and communities. Students will examine diverse therapeutic models and formats, emphasizing ethical and culturally responsive adaptations. The course also reviews the therapeutic benefits of art processes and media, highlighting strategies for collaborative and effective group interventions. Emphasis is placed on the therapist’s own responsive art-making as a tool for reflection, self-awareness, and evaluating treatment progress.
