Students will gain essential skills for recognizing, managing, and responding to emergent medical conditions in athletic training settings. Students will learn to execute Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and apply universal precautions, gaining competency in life-saving interventions, emergency equipment use, and patient-centered care plans. Hands-on practice includes bleeding control, CPR/AED skills, and airway management, with specific focus areas such as: -Evaluating and managing acute conditions like heat illness, sickle cell crisis, and anaphylaxis. -Concussion assessment and cervical spine stabilization. -Implementing preparticipation examination (PPE) protocols, hydration strategies, and environmental risk assessments. -Splinting, wound care, and proper fitting and removal of protective equipment. Through simulated emergency scenarios and critical skills labs, students will be prepared to deliver effective, compliant emergency care that aligns with standards of professional practice, ensuring athlete safety and readiness.
