Clinical Anatomy and Functional Assessment

Catalog description

Students will gain an extensive exploration of musculoskeletal anatomy with an emphasis on structures relevant to athletic training and clinical application. Students will develop foundational knowledge in anatomical terminology, planes of motion, and the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Emphasis is placed on hands-on skills in palpation, range of motion (ROM), and manual muscle testing (MMT), preparing students for advanced clinical assessments. Course topics include: Detailed anatomical study of the lower and upper extremities, including the foot, ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. Spine anatomy, covering the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions, with a focus on ROM and functional muscle testing for core stability. Application of anatomical knowledge to functional movement patterns, enhancing understanding of athletic movements and common musculoskeletal injuries.
