Catalog description

Prerequisite: Completion of CHEM 120. This course is a study of molecular structure, bonding, nomenclature, stereochemistry, spectral and other physical properties of organic compounds. A major topic will be the preparations, reactions, and reaction mechanisms of organic compounds. The laboratory generally evaluates material that is being studied in lecture. Students learn to use and interpret the data from various equipment available in the laboratory. The course is intended for those planning to earn a 4-year degree in science or a related field. (UC, CSU, AVC) (GE: IGETC Areas 5A, 5C, CSU Areas B1, B3)
