Catalog description

This course will introduce the student to the field of disability studies. Disability and chronic illness (CI) are often a major factor influencing an individual and/or family during one’s lifetime. People with a disability or CI may be considered a subculture of our society. Physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and cultural factors related to the presence of disability and CI throughout the life span will be explored. Emphasis is placed on those aspects of disability that affect the practice of physical therapy examination and intervention.
