An examination of the United States from the 1830’s to 1860 that places the era in the context of re - gional, national, and global developments during the nineteenth cen - tury. Topics include: gender, immigration, urbanization, industrializa - tion, Native American removal and resistance, Texas immigration and annexation, the plantation system, reform movements, abolition, and women’s rights.
